1. What kinds
of mass media do you know?
Mass media is communication—whether
written, broadcast, or spoken—that reaches a large audience. This includes
television, radio, advertising, movies, the Internet, newspapers, magazines,
and so forth.
2. Which was
the first mass media invented by people?
The history of mass media can be traced
back to the days when dramas were performed in various ancient cultures. This
was the first time when a form of media was "broadcast" to a wider
audience. The first dated printed book known is the "Diamond Sutra",
printed in China in 868 AD, although it is clear that books were printed
earlier. Movable clay type was invented in 1041 in China. However, due to the
slow spread of literacy to the masses in China, and the relatively high cost of
paper there, the earliest printed mass-medium was probably European popular
prints from about 1400.
3. How did
television enrich mass media?
TV used to be one of the most informative
mass media, but it wasn't the most general, because in villages the poor people
weren't able to buy TV, so they had bought newspapers. Now TV also doesn't play
any role, because we have internet and internet is more reactive than TV. But
ten years ago, when the Internet wasn't very developed, our grandparents had
bought newspapers, because those ones are cheap and suitable. Even I remember
that when I was a child, my father also had been buying broadsheets called
"Irates de facto".
4. What kind
of newspapers are there?
There are two types of newspapers: broadsheets
and tabloids. In broadsheets we can read articles about politics, about serious
things. But tabloids are full of garbage, because the tabloids are full of
"scandals" or articles like this.
5. What about
the Internet? How did the Internet change the world of mass media?
The Internet was just revolutionary
invention. Now we can't imagine our life without Internet, social networks etc.
The Internet plays very important role in our life; we can read news about all
over the world by Internet. As I said, my father used to buy broadsheets, but
now he reads the same articles in the Internet.
6. Is
blogging a kind of mass media?
Sometimes blogging can be a kind of mass
media, because there are also informative blogs like news websites. But I think
that we mustn't believe in everything which is written in the Internet, in the
blogs, because sometimes the authors of those articles aren't professional journalists.
7. What kind
of mass media do you prefer to use most often?
I use Internet, because it's cheap,
suitable and easy to use. I have a tablet, which is very light, small and
comfortable. My tablet is always with me, and it means that I always can be
informed.
